Wow! What a night. We (Cheryl and Dr. Stiles and I) just got back from Dallas. We went to an 'Anti-Bush'
Rally at the Wyndham Anatole in Downtown Dallas. There were, by even conservative estimates, approximately 400-500 people
in attendance. What I really loved is that there were FAR more supportive cars than those against us. (Favorite
car was a classy looking lady with 2 kids in the backseat who tried to discreetly flip the bird. I smiled and told her
it was very lady like. She seemed very embarrassed of herself.)
I realized tonight that Bush, despite raising more than the 9 Democratic candidates combined, could be beat. (Oh,
by the way, if you are reading this and thinking...well he raised a lot of money...people must like him. Think about
who his contributors are. They are the wealthiest 1% who are happy to keep him in office for the kickback he gave them
with the horrendous tax break. They know that if a sensible and moral candidate is installed in the White House (oh,
crap....sensible and moral candidates are elected...not installed like the SHRUB), then the tax breaks will be rolled back
and they won't get to keep those untold millions. If you didn't know that before, don't worry about the egg on your
face. You've only been duped by Bush.
How can he be beat? Well, the candidate has to be true to his own convictions. I think the American public
is realizing that we don't want to hear what we want to hear so we can put someone in office (or have them installed by their
daddy's old boss' Supreme Court) who is then going to turn on everything they told us, and even make up some new shit.
We didn't elect him last time. Let's NOT elect him, again!

Oh, so much has happened since I last touched this page. I am a far more socially conscious person now than I was
at 24. But it is the wise man who knows that he has much to learn. So, I will enjoy this journey. Even through
its inevitable frustrations. If you haven't read about Jose Padilla yet, I suggest you go now. It had better make your blood boil. Also, and I am throwing this in, only because it
is of current interest, but visit disinfo.com. I am reading a book, entitled, 'You Are Being Lied To' and it is interesting. Some might call it the alternative
press. They would be correct. It just goes to show that you don't always have to accept things at face value.
Don't be the lemming that goes off that cliff. Study. Learn. Educate.

Well, after neglecting this site for some time, (no thanks to being barred from the site by a glitch on the part of tripod),
I am back. I think the scope of the site was too broad initially. So, I am scaling it back some. I think I will lose the
reviews pages. This site will, from this date forward, be a source of information about me, Alan J. McStravick.

I was struck with an interesting thought while watching the movie, "The Contender", starring Joan Allen, Jeff Bridges
and Gary Oldman. It is funny that inspiration can strike from most anywhere. The thought or theme was this: Do we base
heroism on the action of the individual or is it contingent, also, upon the outcome of those actions. Meaning this, if a
person embarks on an action that could indeed save someone's life or home, but fails, are they a hero for having made the
attempt? Are they any less heroic than the person who would have succeeded in that attempt? This is an interesting theme
that I guarantee will be present in some of my future writings.

Two days ago, our country was witness to yet another school shooting. Typically, when one is subjected to this type of shocking
incident repeatedly, it is expected that there will be some desensitization to the issue all together. Thankfully, I feel
that our country has not come to accept school shootings as "something that happens". What is it about our society,
though, that allows this behavior to continue? Where does the fault lie? When will it end?
